Environment and surroundings
Lagarillo de Pedrolo has an excellent location in Andalusia. Although it is located in the beautiful rolling hills of the Axarquia region. It is only 5 minutes from the highway, giving quick and easy access to the historic cities of Malaga (30 min), Antequera (30 min), Ronda (40 min), Seville (1.5h), Granada (1h) and Cordoba (1.5h).
From the terrace of the villa you will contemplate some of the mountains, Natural Parks and nine of the 31 white villages that form the region of the Axarquia. Of great interest are Comares and Frigiliana with their cobbled streets, shady courtyards and hidden churches.
East...
To the east are the impressive caves of Nerja with their enormous formations of stalactites and stalagmites. Just east of Nerja, the Paraje Natural Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo, where divers can observe the local marine fauna in this protected environment.
They are undoubtedly the most beautiful and wild beaches and the most fascinating cliffs of the coast of Malaga.
Hiking and biking
Hiking and biking enthusiasts will find a paradise here.
Walking through El Torcal, Monte Maroma, Sierra de Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama, to name just a few, is a dream.
Or practice mountain biking through the many quiet dirt roads of the Natural Park of Montes de Malaga, 5 minutes from the village.
Beaches
The beaches of the Axarquia region (Rincon de la Victoria, Torre del Mar, Nerja, Maro…) are much less crowded than those of the Costa del Sol west of Malaga (Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Marbella…) and the village of the nearest beaches are at a few kilometers away. 35 minutes by car.
Nothing better to eat on the beach than the famous Chiringuitos that serve very fresh fish and, of course, espetos de sardinas (sardine skewers).
These picnic areas are on the edge of the beach, usually with their own sun loungers and umbrellas that you can rent and with easy access from the different parking areas.
Local roads
The local roads are a joy to drive or cycle on, as there is little traffic, even in tourist season, and there are numerous scenic drives in the area.
Drive along the A-7000, the old road linking Colmenar with Malaga, 31 km through the Natural Park of Los Montes with wonderful views or head from the village on the A-4152 to the small villages of Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo. They are very frequented by cyclists and are crossing points for national races.
Colmenar
Colmenar, 5 km away, is the closest town to the village.
Here you will find everything you may need.
It is a village of white houses and friendly people, old people in small groups sunbathing, bars full of people, local cuisine… Authentic rural life, far from mass tourism.
